How to Sew Pointe Shoes

Sewing pointe shoes is very much an individual thing. I’ve only danced en pointe for two years and I’m sure that the longer I dance my preferences might change. I’ve tried different elastics and come to the conclusion that I like the thicker elastic, which I find difficult to get hold of and so stick to regular width elastic most of the time. I don’t like covert elastic, and I prefer to criss-cross my elastics rather than a loop at the heel.
I have tried the Bloch Elasto-ribbon but am currently back to regular ribbon. I used to elasto-ribbon to ease the Achilles’ tendon problem I was having last year that was caused by poorly fitting pointe shoes.
Here’s a picture guide on how I sew my shoes.
